from the ground up

A Partnership Toolkit for Community

Welcome! We are glad you are here.

This virtual garden is meant to help you find joy and success in collaborations that advance justice. Our goal is to achieve deep, widespread, and lasting justice in our community, and we know that it can only be done by working together in partnership. Successful partnerships are based in trust and mutual respect, which take time and intention to build. We use the metaphor of a garden to recognize that our shared work is grounded in historical context, including past harm and pre-existing relationships.

No matter what shape the partnership ends up looking like, (and they can look very different), people are always at the center.  Like plants, partnerships need investments of time, resources, and energy to thrive. In this toolkit you will find resources to help organize and structure partnerships to fit organizational and individual needs. We walk you through the process of preparing for, developing, sustaining and ending partnerships.

As you explore, we invite you to take what makes sense and modify it to your unique situation.

This project is brought to you by the Institute for Health Research & Policy at Whitman-Walker.
